We are doing a project on the crannógs in Loch Riach at the moment and are looking for help! We are looking for the original Irish names for the islands, in particular Shore Island. I don’t want to translate from the English back to the Irish as there is presumably an original name whose history would be further lost by me badly re-translating (e.g. Does Ash Island refer to ashes or ash trees?). If anyone has any information or can suggest where to look I’d be very grateful if you got in touch. Míle buíochas, Eilís.
